Intimate Paris wedding
A lovely intimate Paris wedding
I was lucky to be able to photograph Tiphaine and Louis’s intimate Paris wedding ceremony, as the photographer for their “main” wedding in the South of France wasn’t available on that day (and either way it wouldn’t make sense to travel so far just for a couple of hours). So my thanks go to the super talented Margaux for recommending me, it was a lovely day full of laugher – thanks also to Paul Hatte, the town hall officiant, who took extra care in delivering a fun and bespoke wedding speech, something rare enough in Paris as usually officiants have too many weddings in a row to deal with.
Should you hire a photographer for your registry office wedding?
When the official civil wedding happens on a separate day to the main wedding day, one can wonder if it’s worth having a photographer there. After all weddings cost quite a bit already, so is it not worth saving the money? Obviously the answer is super personal, and when the civil wedding is happening on a different day, usually only the closest guests are present. So it’s easy to think that « the cost is not worth it as not everybody will be there. But shouldn’t we think the other way around? Isn’t this very first commitment, this first « yes », those first tears, those first hugs with our super close people, isn’t that as important as the bigger day where these moments will be drowned amongst many others?
Paris wedding photographer for smaller ceremonies
So you’ve decided to book a photographer for your shorter ceremony. And then you encounter another problem: finding a wedding photographer in Paris that will accept a shorter job. What do I mean? Aren’t photographers happy to get the business?
Of course we’re happy to work and to accept many different set-ups. However most people choose high season saturdays to get married, even for short ceremonies, and those are sacred for us! There are only that many saturdays a year, and that many high-season ones so we need to save most of them for longer weddings. So if you’re thinking of having a short ceremony, it might be worth considering hosting it on a weekday – your closest people will be more than happy to take some time off work to honour you with their presence, and it will make it easier for you to book your dream wedding photographer!
This is why I only accept 2 or 3 shorter ceremonies per season on saturdays, and require a minimum of 5 hours of work. During the week however, we can discuss shorter jobs so feel free to send me your request and I will gladly get back to you to discuss it further.
